YSBA Urges Residents to Support Local Businesses During Holidays
With another Black Friday come and gone and the holiday shopping season front and center, the Yorktown Small Business Association is urging residents to frequent local merchants.
On Saturday, outside Campagna’s Restaurant in Shrub Oak, the YSBA kicked off its “Put your ALL into Shopping Small Program,” which offers incentives for shoppers to spend money locally.
“Local small businesses are the fuel that powers our economic engine and our community,” said YSBA founder and President Bob Giordano, who was joined by Highway Superintendent Dave Paganelli, Yorktown Lions Club President and Councilman-elect Ed Lachterman, Town Clerk-elect Diana Quast and some local business owners.
“It is important for our residents to patronize our local merchants, who are so important to the economic vitality of our community,” Giordano added.
The program runs through the entire month of December and a grand prize of $500 cash, merchandise and gift certificates from various participating businesses worth thousands of dollars will be raffled off on New Year’s Day.
Shoppers must patronize participating businesses in order to qualify for free raffle tickets. Requirements for raffle tickets are set and provided by each business. Shoppers should look for the green balloons and posters.
“As a former small business owner and a member of the YSBA, I understand how important it is to support our local small businesses all year long,” said Paganelli, former owner of Travelers Rest. “I encourage our residents to give their All into shopping Small.”
The YSBA is offering the program at no cost to all small businesses in Yorktown. Interested businesses are encouraged to contact Giordano at (914) 874-4347 or Yorktownsba@optonline.net. Enrollment will continue until December 15.
