Patrice’s Picks: This Week’s Three Best Bets

1. Close out the ice skating season at Bear Mountain State Park (3/6):

Enjoy mountain views as you skate at the outdoor rink at Bear Mountain State Park just across the Hudson River. The season closes after the last session on March 6. Bring your own figure skates or take advantage of the rentals available for $10 a pair; sizes range from toddler 8 to adult 13. Round out the day with a ride on the carousel and refreshments or take a walk on the grounds around Hessian Lake. Session hours: 10-11:30 a.m., 12-1:30 p.m., 2-3:30 p.m., 4-5:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m. Admission is $5; children 4 and under skate free. Parking is $10. Be sure to check ahead for possible rink closures due to weather or maintenance.

2. Celebrate International Women’s Day with WMN Unite (3/8)

Eat, drink, network, shop, and more at WMN Unite’s first fundraiser held at O2 Living Sanctuary on International Women’s Day. Moderated by Serena Norr, a group of panelists will speak on topics of Sustainability, Financial Wellness, Missions Aligning with Personal Ethos, and the Universal Plight of the Modern Woman during the formal part of the program. Nosh on light bites by Maria’s Table. Take part in the interactive workshops, including meditation and henna. Visit the unique boutique featuring local women-owned vendors and artisans. Suggested donation: $25.

  • Buster Keaton’s The General followed by a Q&A at the Jacob Burns Film Center (Pleasantville): Take a step back in time as you view Buster Keaton’s The General, the last great comedy of the silent era, at the Jacob Burns Film Center. Ben Model will provide live piano accompaniment. Andrew Jupin will moderate a Q&A by Dana Stevens, author of the book Camera Man: Buster Keaton, the Dawn of Cinema, and the Invention of the Twentieth Century, after the movie.   • Billy Joel Tribute Show at the WPPAC (White Plains): David Clark brings Billy Joel’s music to White Plains with his tribute show, “Songs in the Attic,” on March 4.
