The Yorktown School District had a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the reopening of the pool at the middle school.

Members of the Yorktown Board of Education, administration, faculty, students and town board celebrated the official reopening of the swim pool located at the Mildred E. Strang Middle School on Tuesday,  Oct. 4.

“I’m very pleased to see our pool available to students again, as it benefits our swim teams, physical education classes and community at large,’ said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Ralph Napolitano. “The renovated pool area is physically attractive, welcoming and fits the needs of our swimmers and their families.”

Completed as part of the infrastructure bond approved by the Yorktown community in 2006, the pool now includes a handicapped-accessible chair lift, new benches for classes and fans, wall treatments, lighting and acoustics, a state-of-the-art dehumidifier and cleaning system.  All are designed to promote good health and the longevity of the facility.
