White Plains Man Arrested for Knifepoint Rape on Lake Street
A White Plains man was arrested last month after prosecutors say he raped a woman at knifepoint near his Lake Street home, District Attorney Janet DiFiore announced last week.
Alberto Gomez Ojeda, a 29-year-old resident of an apartment at 125 Lake Street, was arraigned last Thursday on a five-count indictment.
Just after midnight on March 30, Ojeda was walking in the area of Lake Street and saw a woman walking alone, DiFiore said in a press release last week. He approached her, sexually assaulted and forcibly raped her at knife point, then fled the scene, according to prosecutors.
White Plains police were notified and arrested Ojeda on April 1. Ojeda faces two counts of first-degree predatory sexual assault, one count of first-degree criminal sexual act and one count of first-degree rape, all felonies. He was also charged with one count of criminal possession of a weapon, a misdemeanor.
Ojeda faces up to 25 years to life in prison if convicted. Assistant District Attorney Wendy Parra of the Sex Crimes Bureau is prosecuting the case. Ojeda is due in court May 22.
