White Plains Celebrates 100th Anniversary as Incorporated City in 2016
January 1, 2016 will mark the 100th Anniversary of White Plains being incorporated as a City. In recognition of this important milestone, and to kick off the City’s Centennial, the White Plains Historical Society presented Mayor Tom Roach with a ceremonial gavel used by White Plains’ first Mayor, Ffarrington M. Thompson, at the first Common Council Meeting on January 1, 1916. The gavel will remain on loan to the City during the Centennial year.
