Veteran’s Wife Offended By Lawler’s Vote Against Protecting Benefits

Rep. Mike Lawler has voted for deep cuts for veterans’ benefits. When he writes about “setting the record straight,” he is using politician doubletalk to try to confuse us.

Here are the facts: the Limit, Save, Grow Act called for drastically deep cuts across the board in federal spending. Certain budgets were specified to be protected from cuts: Social Security and Medicare and the Department of Defense was added. Veterans were never specified for protection. Everyone but Lawler understands that calling for across-the-board cuts and not protecting veterans means cutting veterans’ benefits.

I am the wife of a Vietnam veteran and I am nobody’s pawn. I resent the way Lawler endangers veterans benefits to appease the MAGA extremists who control the House of Representatives, and then tries to tell us he didn’t mean it.

Mr. Lawler, be advised: Your constituents are paying more attention to what you do than to what you say.
