Urbanowicz, Feuerman Elected Peekskill School Board Officers
The Peekskill City School District Board of Education members unanimously chose Joseph Urbanowicz as president and Fran Feuerman as vice president for the 2011-2012 year, at the annual reorganization meeting held on July 7.
Urbanowicz, who was also sworn in as a newly reelected board member, is starting his second term as a trustee. He has been director of facilities and transportation for the Ardsley School District in Ardsley for 25 years and has also chaired Peekskill’s facilities committee. Both Urbanowicz and his wife are graduates of Peekskill High School, as are their three children. Urbanowicz has also coached junior varsity sports for Peekskill schools as well as Peekskill parks and recreation, and is a volunteer youth leader.
Urbanowicz is succeeding Trustee Michael Simpkins who served as president during the 2010-2011 year.
The newly elected president is encouraging Peekskill residents to participate and volunteer for a Board committee, in particular the financial task force that is in formation. “We have many committees where citizens can have a meaningful voice and make a real contribution to the district’s future,” he emphasized. “Everyone is welcome.”
Fran Feuerman was re-elected as vice president, will serve her second year in that position after previously serving as board president. She is currently chief financial officer for the Westchester Library System.
Trustee Douglas Glickert was also sworn in as a re-elected board member.
