Town of Somers Wins State Archives Award
The Town of Somers recently received the 2012 Cheryl Steinbach Annual Archives Award for Excellence in Local Government Records Management.
Supervisor Mary Beth Murphy and Town Clerk Kathleen Pacella represented the town during a luncheon ceremony in Albany held by the New York State Archives and the Archives Partnership Trust. The award is named after a late Chautauqua town clerk who was a strong advocate for strengthening local government archival and records management programs.
Somers was acknowledged for its active records advisory board, dedicated records management budget, disaster plan, strong archival records program and successful community outreach efforts.
“We are pleased to recognize the Town of Somers for their outstanding efforts to manage and ultimately preserve the records of local government,” said State Archivist Christine Ward. “This entity was selected from among all local governments as having the finest program in the state in 2012.”
