Three Vie for P’ville Board Seat; Skolnick to Step Aside
Three candidates have thrown their hat into the upcoming Pleasantville Board of Education race, but the bigger news is who isn’t running.
Incumbent Lois Winkler joins Andrea Vella and Louis Conte as they vie for two open seats. President Sol Skolnick has decided against running for re-election.
This marks Conte’s second run for a seat last year, losing to current Trustee Shane McGaffey. Vella is running for school board for the first time.
In Chappaqua, there will be two new board of education members come July 1 as President Janet Benton and Vice President Gregg Bresner have decided against seeking re-election. The three candidates vying for the two available seats are Arthur Fried, Victoria Tipp and Karen Visser.
Conversely, Byram Hills incumbents Brett Summers, the current president, and Ira Schulman are the only two candidates who submitted petitions. Summers is running for his third term while Schulman will begin his fifth term.
All districts will have their residents vote on the 2011-12 budget and board of education elections on Tuesday, May 17.
