Thousands Expected to Enjoy Peekskill Music Festival
Thousands of music enthusiasts are expected to head to downtown Peekskill Friday evening and all day Saturday for a free concert and other events.
Formerly known as the Peekskill Jazz & Blues Festival, the 2014 Peekskill Music Festival, produced by Paramount Hudson Valley, will kick off Friday at 8 p.m. with local bands competing at different venues around the city for an opportunity to perform on the main stage on Saturday. Winners can be chosen by sending the name of the band to vote@paramounthudsonvalley.com.
On Saturday, from 2 to 10 p.m., two stages will feature The Rock of Ages Band, The Nighthawks, Livin the Blues Band, Yorktown sensation Jessica Lynn, Dana Edelman, and the “Best of the Valley” Battle of the Band’s winner.
But there’s more than just music to enjoy. Peekskill Eats Food Fair will showcase the diversity of foods in the city. In addition, the New York Road Knights will be bringing street-rodding, classic and vintage automobiles to Brown Street, starting at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and an Artisan Fair will be held displaying the works and hand-crafted products of local artists and artisans.
To make getting around easier, the Peekskill Trolley will be making regular loops between the Peekskill train station, Water Street commuter parking lots and the festival between 2 and 11 p.m. on Saturday.
