The Restaurant Examiner: Saint George in Hastings Introduces $25 Prix-Fixe Weekday Menu
A two-course, prix-fixe dinner debuts at Saint George in Hastings-on-Hudson today (Tuesday). The bistro plans to offer it Tuesday through Thursday from 5 to 10 p.m. for $25 per person.
For the first course (hors d’oeuvres), patrons can choose from Escargots a la Bourguignonne with garlic herb butter and breadcrumbs, Little Gem lettuce with radish, tarragon and Dijon vinaigrette, soup du jour or duck with pistachio terrine and assorted condiments.
The second course choices are coq au vin with fresh buttered noodles, onion, mushrooms and lardon, Trout Grenobloise with spinach, lemon caper, crouton and brown butter, crispy duck leg confit, pork blade charcuterie or flatiron steak fries.
Two options for the first course are available with supplemental charges: steamed mussels ($4 extra) and seared foie gras (an additional $12). Three additional options are offered for the second course: lamb navarin ($8 extra), lobster bearnaise ($9 extra) and boneless ribeye steak ($10 extra).
Saint George, owned and operated by Jason Steinberg with Chris Vergara as the executive chef, is named after Vergara’s pet rabbit.
The bistro opened in October 2013. It replaced Buffet de la Gare, a famous upscale French restaurant that was operated by the late Gwenael Goulet who bought it in 1980, sold it in 2005 and reacquired it in 2008. He died in 2011.
Saint George is open for dinner Tuesday through Sunday and for brunch on Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
