The next several days are forecast to be very hot and uncomfortable. Here are some options for White Plains residents during this heat wave.
Both City of White Plains pools will be open for extended hours on Wednesday and Thursday of this week to help residents cool off.
Kitrell Pool, which is located on Fisher Avenue and Gardella Pool, which is located on Ferris Avenue will be open from Noon until 7:30 p.m., 1 1/2 hours later than usual. A Recreation ID card is needed to access the pools. An ID card may be obtained at the main Recreation & Parks Department Office, located at 85 Gedney Way.
In addition, the Senior Center continues to be open and available to all City of White Plains resident senior citizens from 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Monday – Fridayas another cooling off option. Seniors may come to the Center and partake in activities. Reservations are needed to reserve lunch and/or bus transportation to the Center. Please call (914) 422-1423 to reserve lunch and arrange for bus transportation to/from the Center. The White Plains Senior Center is located at 65 Mitchell Place.
The White Plains Public Library will be open today through Thursday, 10:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m.; Friday, 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
