Sullivan Family Funeral Set, Police Continue Investigation
As the Carmel community mourns the police department continues its investigation into the fatal fire that killed four members of the Sullivan family on May 1.
In an investigation update Carmel Police Chief Michael Johnson said that detectives re-interviewed the 20-year-old Thomas Sullivan, Jr., the sole surviving member of the Sullivan family, for three hours on Wednesday.
According to Johnson, Sullivan was able to provide additional details of what occurred that night and clarify questions that law and fire personnel needed to know in order to proceed with the investigation.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However the Wyndham Lane residence is no longer being secured by personnel because the samples that need to be analyzed for the case were already sent to the New York State Police Laboratory.
Members of the law enforcement investigation team will be meeting with the Putnam County Fire Investigation Team early next week to share and evaluate any information we are able to obtain in order to ascertain the cause of the fire, according to Johnson.
