Siegel, Bianco and Paganelli Get Yorktown Republican Nod
Yorktown Supervisor Susan Siegel and Councilman Nick Bianco will be joined by restaurateur David Paganelli on the Republican line of the ballot in 2011. The ticket was determined at the Yorktown Republican Committee meeting held on Tuesday, April 20.
Siegel won the endorsement after two rounds of voting. Yorktown Chamber President Joseph Visconti and former Town Attorney Michael Grace also sought the nomination to be the supervisor candidate, but after the first vote the results came in as followed: Siegel- 29, Visconti-15 and Grace-14. Grace pulled his name from consideration. The winner needed to have 30 or more votes and at the end of the second round Siegel won the spot on the ballot with 40 votes to Visconti’s 19.
Bianco and Paganelli easily won the Republican nod as for the two council seat vacancies over developer Chris Sciarra and United Taxpayers of Yorktown President Ed Ciffone.
Bianco, a registered member of the Conservative Party, is a Republican-supported four-term councilman.
Paganelli owns Travelers Restaurant in Ossining and is active in many Yorktown community activities. Paganelli ran for the town board in 2009 on the Democrat line.
Last week the Yorktown Republicans endorsed incumbent John Testa and current Town Councilman Terrence Murphy to run for county legislator in districts 1 and 4, respectively. Gary Raniolo, a local attorney, was endorsed for town justice.
The Democrats named former Supervisor Don Peters as their candidate for town supervisor. No other Democratic candidates have announced their intention to run, but it is expected that Councilman Jim Martorano, who was first elected in 1991, will soon announce his reelection bid. The Democratic Committee is interviewing potential candidates the week of April 25.
