Salary Increases Approved for Cortlandt Employees
Twelve Cortlandt employees and elected officials will be earning six figures this year as part of the annual salary resolution approved by the town board last week.
Cortlandt has 165 authorized positions in its 2014 budget and salaries amount to 37% of this year’s $37.54 million spending plan.
Town Comptroller Glenn Cestaro is the highest paid Cortlandt employee this year with an annual salary of $156,758. Finishing a close second and third are Department of Environmental Services Director Jeffrey Coleman at $156,589 and Department of Technical Services Director Ed Vergano at $154,691.
Supervisor Linda Puglisi, now in her 23rd year in the town’s highest seat, earns the fourth highest salary at $131,591, followed by Town Attorney Thomas Wood at $128,101.
Other six figure earners are Engineering Assistant Directors of Technical Services Arthur D’Angelo, Jr. and Stephen Ferreira at $117,199 apiece; Deputy Comptroller Patricia Robcke at $117,192; DOTS Deputy Director and Planning Board coordinator Chris Kehoe at $112,928; Town Clerk and Registrar of Vital Statistics Joann Dyckman at $109,330; Purchasing Director/Systems Technical Director Peter McMillan at $107,689; and Recreation and Conservation Director John Palmiotto at $102,071.
Employees earning above the $90,000 mark are Receiver of Taxes Mary Breining at $99,109; Assessor Tom Watkins at $95,287; Code Enforcement Director Ken Hoch at $95,258; and Assistant Department of Technical Services Director Rosemary Boyle-Lasher at $90,938.
Each of the four elected Town Board members receive $21,742, plus health benefits, while Councilman Frank Farrell receives an extra $1,200 as deputy supervisor. Town Justices Gerald Klein and Daniel McCarthy earn $43,072 apiece.
The chairman of the Planning Board, Loretta Taylor, receives $6,062, while the other six members receive $4,555. The chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals, David Douglas, earns $4,358 and the other six members receive $3,390.
