Restaurant Roundup
Happy 2012 readers and eaters! Here’s my January Restaurant Roundup:
Crabtree’s Kittle House
You can now get breakfast every morning from 7:30-10:30am.
The yummy menu features a wide array of creative egg dishes, such as
made-to-order omelettes, eggs Benedict, and even scrambled duck eggs as part of the duck, duck, duck meal. Sweets include malted Belgian waffles,
blueberry buttermilk pancakes, and brioche French toast bananas Foster. (wow!) Also find fresh baked muffins, sausages, bacon, oatmeal, granola and so much more- all done to the impeccably high standards of KH. The only thing more amazing than the breakfast menu is the new brunch menu! Offered daily from 11-2:30 (Sunday brunch will remain a buffet), menu items include lobster roll, shrimp po’ boy, a special cheeseburger featuring Pat Lafrieda’s top quality meat, Salade Nicoise and many other salads, plus Filet Mignon or Coq au Vin if you prefer the classics.
Kittle House is also continuing theme nights. Lobster night, featuring succulent Maine lobster, happens on Wednesdays. Retro food and drink night is Thursdays. Remember Oysters Rockefeller and Beef Wellington? Don’t miss washing them down with a Sidecar! Sunday night is family night. Each child under 12 eats free from the kid’s menu with an adult entrée purchase. (ding ding ding- deal alert!)
The Tap Room also features special menu offerings and live
entertainment. Please see the web site for details.
The Kittle House is located in Chappaqua, NY, at 11 Kittle Way. Please phone (914) 666-8044 for reservations or questions. Also ask about subscribing to their e-newsletter to keep up on all the happenings and special events!
Massa’
With its beautifully renovated elegant farmhouse/lodge style
dining rooms and superb menu, Massa’ is a new favorite of mine. They serve
lunch weekdays 12-3:30. Dinner is served Monday-Thursday 5-10:30pm, Friday and Saturday 5-11:30pm, and Sunday 4-9pm. Bar Massa’ serves Monday-Wednesday until 12 am, Thursday and Friday until 2am and Sunday 10pm.
Their Italian menu, featuring the cuisine of Puglia, is top-notch. The fish was fresh and cooked to perfection with an amazing sauce, and the veal was mouth-meltingly tender. Whichever entrée you choose, look forward to a plate of deliciousness! The wine list has a very good selection to compliment your dining experience.
Find Massa’ at 2 Weaver Street, Scarsdale, NY. Phone (914)472-4600.
“Boo” of the month:
The Cheesecake Factory 1 Maple Ave, White Plains, NY
Not much good to report from this dining experience. First, because my sons were with me most likely, we were seated in a cold, drafty booth far from civilization. The voluminous menu looked promising, but the prices were near exorbitant. I will say that the waiter was very attentive and we appreciated his professional and helpful demeanor. The food was not stellar,
especially considering its price tag. I will not be returning.
