Residents to Vote on $3.2M Mahopac Public Library Bond

Residents in the Mahopac School District will be heading to the polls on Tuesday, June 7 to vote on a $3.2 bond to make necessary improvements to the Mahopac Public Library.
If approved, the funding will be used to upgrade the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems and enhance air sealing and insulation to improve the library’s energy efficiency.
The library’s Board of Trustees has stated their will be no tax increase due to the bond since the original construction bond for the 19-year-old building was paid off last year. The Board of Trustees is also actively seeking local, state and federal funding.
Besides offering early literacy programs, teen activities, technology assistance and educational and cultural programs, Mahopac Library is also a designated community emergency center for warming, cooling, wireless access, and more during power outages and natural disasters.
Voting on the bond, Board of Trustees candidates and budget will take place from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
