Recent Burglary Rash Spreads to No. Castle
North Castle residences are the latest to be hit in a spree of burglaries that have victimized homeowners in several municipalities in the area.
The town’s police department sent out an electronic crime prevention alert last week informing residents of a string of daytime burglaries that has also plagued portions of New Castle, Bedford and Mount Pleasant.
Detective Sgt. Mark Thomas said there have been seven incidents–four attempted burglaries and three actual break-ins–since the fall in North Castle. That does not include a separate incident at one of the schools, he said.
It is not clear how many of the residential burglaries within North Castle are related and whether some of the incidents in other jurisdictions are connected to ones within the town but it appears that there are multiple groups with different methods that have been preying upon area homes, Thomas said. The North Castle burglaries have occurred mainly in Armonk and Banksville.
Residents who see any suspicious activity, people or vehicles or has information that can help authorities solve the crimes are asked to immediately contact the North Castle Police Department at 914-273-9500.
