Recap of Ossining Fire Department Parade
The Ossining Fire Department Parade, held on Friday, August 5, was in great attendance, as people throughout the town lined the streets to support these courageous individuals. As each fire company from the surrounding areas marched – from close towns, such as Briarcliff and towns much farther away such as Lake George; smiling faces and white gloved waves were in great abundance.
In addition to many different fire companies, and variety of fire trucks, other groups marched along playing music. The musicians and performers encouraged the onlookers to clap and wave.
Toward the end of the parade, the Ossining fire department wheeled along a memorial of September 11, which included lit memory candles, and the words Never Forget. The crowd showed their thanks to the fire fighters who were there on that awful day and demonstrated their gratitude for the tremendous work all fire departments do everyday.
