Rain Postpones Holiday Electric Lights Parade in Yorktown to Sunday
The third annual Electric Lights Parade “Jingle Bells,” in downtown Yorktown, originally planned for Saturday, has been rescheduled to Sunday due to the wet weather forecast for Saturday.
The parade of creative and festive holiday floats, stretching from Front Street to Veterans Road, will still begin at 6:30 p.m. and conclude with a tree lighting ceremony at Jack DeVito Memorial Field.
The parade is hosted by town officials and the Yorktown and Mohegan Lake volunteer fire departments.
This year’s extravaganza will be hosted by Steve and Lindsay Calleran of Shrub Oak. Yorktown Auto Body will provide hot chocolate and snacks after the parade.
In conjunction with the season of giving, boxed or canned non-perishable food items and/or hat and gloves can be dropped off in collection boxes at the field to benefit local food pantries and Yorktown Community Help.
