Last month, on March 15, Kilmar Abrego Garcia – a Maryland resident with legal protection against deportation – was mistakenly deported to El Salvador by the Trump administration. He is currently detained without charges in a Salvadoran prison, despite a U.S. Supreme Court order directing the government to facilitate his return.

This case has raised serious concerns about due process and the enforcement of legal protections.
