Pleasantville Looks to Improve Official Website

Mayor Peter Scherer and the Pleasantville Village Board recently discussed ways they can improve the village's official website.

The Village of Pleasantville’s website could be a whole lot better.

That is the stance village officials have taken, as they look to improve the municipality’s website.

Currently, the village’s website allows for residents to pay their village taxes online, which saves on paper handling. The village also wants to be more proactive in posting municipal information on the website.

“Our website has done a good job but there are a few things that we would like to do,” Mayor Peter Scherer said.

One of the things that the village has been looking to do for years is allow residents to register for recreation programs on the website. Doing so could be a revenue generator for the village, though it has always been too expensive for the village to implement.

“That’s been harder to pull off,” Scherer conceded. “We’ve been trying to do it in a manner that is inexpensive and we are trying to avoid being locked into a system so we have to start from scratch.”

Scherer said the matter is currently on the village’s radar screen, but offered no timetable for when the matter would be settled.

“It’s clearly a problem that we need to solve and we are on it,” Scherer said.
