Pilot Dies in Crash Near SUNY Purchase Friday Morning
In a news report issued by PIX II, one person died when a small plane crashed just outside the SUNY Purchase campus Friday morning.
The plane, a single-engine Piper Meridian, went down near 120 Cottage Ave. just before 8:30 a.m. after taking off from the Westchester County Airport.
The sole person on board died in the crash.
According to airport operations manager John Starace, the aircraft crashed after running into trees west of the runway.
The pilot’s name has not yet been released.
