Photo Gallery: Yorktown Festival and Street Fair
The August-like weather on Sunday, Oct. 9 made the autumn-themed Yorktown Festival and Street Fair, seem like a summer carnival. Representatives from the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce, who organized the event, believe that attendance was in the range of 20,000 people, well above the record 15,000 people that came out last year.
People came from near and far to enjoy Funtime Amusement’s inflatable rides and activities and to check out the over 200 vendors that lined Commerce St. and Veterans Rd. Fans and admirers were lining up to take photos with Christina DeLeon, the 2011 Miss Westchester, who is currently preparing to compete for the Miss New York title.
Over 100 card participated in the car chow, which featured Dr. Mike Popp PhD, and ranged from antique and vintage models to the latest vehicles from the showroom of Mahopac’s Park Ford.
Three stages provided live entertainment and demonstrations including performances from an Elvis impersonator and the young musicians from the Yorktown Teen Center and The Justin Veatch Fund‘s Open Mic nights.
As the day came to an end, you could hear several chamber members already talking about what they want to do for next year’s festival.
