Peekskill’s Mount Olivet Baptist Church Pastor Honored
Reverend Dr. Adolphus C. Lacey, senior pastor of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Peekskill, was inducted into Morehouse College’s prestigious Martin Luther King Jr. International Board of Preachers April 4 in Atlanta, Georgia.
The ceremony recognized individuals who are living their lives according to a high standard of ethical values, have demonstrated great achievement in their chosen vocation and have shown a profound commitment to their community and society.
“It’s a prestigious honor and a humbling opportunity to be part of this array of revered, humanitarian leaders,” said Lacey, who will celebrate his eighth year as pastor of Mount Olivet Baptist Church in June.
The Class of 2013 Board of Preachers consisted of 22 men and women who were presented with a citation of 20 global ethical options that Dr. King lived by in an effort to transform the world into a better place.
“At MOBC we believe there is no better time than today to increase our level of sacrifice by helping others, giving of our time, treasure and talents,” Lacey said. “No longer can we get by on just talking about Dr. King’s beloved community or compartmentalizing these beliefs to a January or February observance. In order to raise a generation of like-minded leaders, our intentions have to be focused daily. Likewise, on a daily basis, we must be the change we want to see.”
