An elderly man was struck by a car and killed Tuesday evening on the northbound Bronx River Parkway at the County Center in White Plains, Westchester County Police reported.

Stanley Brenner, an 81-year-old Hartsdale resident, was struck by a 2009 Saturn Vue driven by 56-year-old North Salem resident Deborah Mumford, police said. Police responded to the scene at 6:46 p.m. Brenner was given CPR by an EMT from Trans Care EMS and taken to White Plains Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 7:59 p.m.

Brenner was coming from the Counter Center, where a meeting was being held regarding benefits for veterans, and walking towards the East parking lot when he was struck. Police said Brenner was apparently crossing against the light, meaning traffic had the right of way. Mumford reportedly told police she didn’t see the pedestrian and stopped her car after she heard a loud thump.

The investigation is continuing. County police ask anyone who may have witnessed the accident to call 1-877-220-3560.
