Pat Massaroni Hired as Stepinac’s 12th Varsity Head Basketball Coach
Stepinac High School Athletic Director Mike O’Donnell has promoted Pat Massaroni from Varsity B Coach to the Crusaders Head Coach of Varsity Basketball, after the recent resignation of former Head Coach Steve Herman.
Herman held the reigns of Stepinac Varsity Head Basketball Coach for two years, after the resignation of longtime Head Coach Tim Philp. Herman compiled a 20-32 record in his two years at the helm.
Before his hiring as the new Stepinac Varsity Head Basketball Coach, Massaroni served three years (2012-2015), as the Crusaders Varsity B Basketball Head Coach. Massaroni was the first Varsity B Basketball Head Coach in the program’s history, as Stepinac only established the program three years ago.
Massaroni is an alumnus of Stepinac having graduated in 2006. He attained his undergraduate degree from Marist College in Sports Communications in 2010, while working with the Red Foxes Men’s basketball staff. He also served on the James Madison University Basketball staff, while attaining his Master of Science degree in Sports Management in 2012.
Massaroni, who could often be seen on the Stepinac campus handling and contributing to the success of many Athletic Department functions, also worked for the Brooklyn Nets, New York Mets and Westchester Knicks in multiple capacities in recent years.
“Patrick will do whatever it takes to make our basketball program successful. He brings knowledge and a great work ethic to the sidelines of our great basketball program. His love for Stepinac and his passion for the game will be contagious to our basketball program,” stated Stepinac Athletic Director O’Donnell.
