Opponents of Costco in Yorktown Set Up Website
Residents opposed to a planned Costco Wholesale Club in Yorktown have set up a website to encourage others to join their efforts in stopping the project.
With a large sign placed at the front of the room promoting www.nocostco.com, several residents urged the Yorktown Town Board Tuesday night not to grant certain permits necessary for the 150,000-square-foot building to be constructed on 14 acres off Route 202.
“Don’t let the destruction of our rural environment become the legacy of this Town Board,” Babette Ballinger said.
Costco is currently before the Yorktown Planning Board. A public hearing is scheduled for Monday, October 15 at Yorktown Town Hall.
