Mahopac Public Library Celebrates its 60th Anniversary
The 60th anniversary celebration of Mahopac Public Library will take you “Back to the 50s.” The Saturday, June 9 event includes a full evening’s entertainment, starting at 7 pm. An MC from Next Generation will get the party in swing while Stuart and Chun Levin lead 50s dance lessons. Amateur bakers can enter their favorite vintage recipes in a bake-off while professionals can showcase their signature recipes in the dessert contest.
Join with the Spotlight Theater Productions performers and wear your 50s finest. Get out the poodle skirts or come as Elvis and you could win the costume contest. You will want to look your best for your souvenir photo, taken with a 50s star or with your friends in the convertible.
The buffet will feature 50s favorites, created by Bucci’s Deli. Since wine and beer will be served, this is an adults-only celebration.
To commemorate this historic occasion, memorabilia from the library’s earliest days will be on display and an “Anniversary Keepsake,” featuring historical photos and memories of the library, will be published for the event.
Reservations for the Celebration are $50 per person and can be made in person at the library information desk or mailed to the library at 668 Route 6, Mahopac, NY10541. All checks should be made payable to Friends of Mahopac Public Library. The library also accepts most major credit cards. All proceeds benefit the programs and services of the Mahopac Public Library.
