Mahopac Man Tasered Over $10 Bar Tab
A Mahopac man who thought he could avoid paying a $10 bar tab was in for real shock Thursday, according to Carmel police.
After responding to an East Lake Boulevard restaurant on reports of a patron refusing to pay his bill at approximately 6 p.m., police ended up using a taser on 56-year-old Michael Rynik when he allegedly became belligerent when confronted by an officer.
Officer Michael Bodo spoke to Rynik and asked him to pay his bill several times, police said. After Rynik became aggressive, Bodo tried to calm him; Rynik then put his hands on the officer, according to police. When Bodo tried to place Rynik under arrest, a physical altercation took place and two additional officers were needed to get Rynik under control with the help of a taser, police said.
Rynik was arrested for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration. He was remanded to the Putnam County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 bail and is due back in court on April 25.
