Last week’s letter (“Examine the Healthcare Policy Differences of Lawler, Jones Closely’) makes good points in reference to healthcare issues, and I would like to see Rep. Lawler work to increase the withholding cap on Social Security and to embrace Medicare for all.

On the positive side, I feel that he has worked well as part of the bipartisan problem-solvers on legislation, including their version of the budget bill and aid to Ukraine, Israel and Taiwan. I also support his work to remove the family limit on SALT relief. Moreover, I greatly admire his constant communication with his constituents through e-mails and town meetings, something that was not done by his predecessor.

As for ex-representative Jones, I have difficulty with a candidate who, when pushed out of his opportunity to run in the new district by Sean Patrick Maloney, moved to New York City and entered a primary there and, after losing, moved back to Westchester to run again. This strikes me as too much of a carpetbagger just looking for a job, no matter the district.

So, I am strongly leaning on voting for Mike Lawler – but this leaning will be reversed should he support ex-President Trump’s attempt to return to the presidency.
