Letter to the Editor: Democratic-Endorsed Slate Represents Best Path Forward for New Castle
Holly McCall, Lori Morton, Michael Weinberg and Jennifer Bounds represent the best path forward for New Castle in the June 22 primary. For many years, in varying capacities, they have been actively engaged in making New Castle the place we can all be proud of.
Holly, running for supervisor, is a school board and PTA member who has worked diligently to safeguard our children’s future. Lori, a PhD scientist, has focused her efforts on sustainability, conservation and beautification, and of course STEM education. Michael has been a member of the Chappaqua-Millwood Chamber of Commerce and understands how state issues impact local communities. Jen is a businesswoman with two children at Greeley who seeks to revitalize the New Castle business community in the aftermath of the pandemic. This is the right team to lead New Castle as we downsize the Form Based Code and implement recommendations from the Police Reform and Reinvention Collaborative Committee and the Council on Race and Equity.
Like premature reports of Mark Twain’s death, rumors of controlling New Castle Democratic “insiders” are, at very best, grossly exaggerated because, in fact, anyone interested in Democratic ideals is welcome to become involved in local monthly meetings and join in decision-making processes. That’s how the current slate of New Castle Democrats came to be endorsed; they have been active in our community; they were vetted by their neighbors; and they are ready to continue the hard work necessary to keep New Castle a wonderful place for all our citizens to live, work and grow up.
