Dems Call for Oros Dismissal; Cite Reference to ‘Bad Santa’
County lawmakers are demanding that George Oros, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino’s chief of staff, be terminated because of e-mails he sent out that Democratic legislators say are offensive.
In the e-mails, which were mistakenly sent out yesterday, Oros refers to Legislator Judith Myers’ (D-Mamaroneck) speaking voice as breathless, and said that Legislator Bill Burton (D-Ossining) sounds comatose. The e-mails also have him referring to Burton as “Bad Santa.”
“I am angered and utterly shocked that the chief of staff of our County Executive would disparage and degrade me and my colleague Bill Burton with such tawdry, inappropriate language,” Myers said. “I will be taking this matter to the County’s human resource officials and filing a formal complaint against Mr. Oros. In the meantime, I strongly believe this behavior cannot be tolerated by such a prominent figure in the County Executive’s Administration and feel George Oros should be fired immediately for betraying the public trust.”
Before becoming Astorino’s chief of staff, Oros served as county legislator for District 1.
A message left for Oros has not yet been returned.
