Lawler Condemning Administration for Failing to Secure Border is Misguided

It is absolutely absurd that Rep. Mike Lawler voted for House Resolution 1376 “strongly condemning the Biden Administration and its Border Czar, Kamala Harris’s, failure to secure the United States border.”
I would hope my representative in Congress is well-informed, but apparently that is not the case. Vice President Harris isn’t the border czar. She was never tapped to secure the border. Her mission was hundreds of miles south of our border. She was tasked by President Biden in 2021 to examine the root causes of migration from Central America, including poverty, violence and corruption.
Or perhaps Mike Lawler is getting his information from Trump who states, “Border Czar, Kamala, threw open our borders and allowed 20 million aliens to stampede into our country from all over the world.”
I cannot forget that Sen. James Lankford (R-Oklahoma), one of the most conservative senators, helped write the bipartisan immigration bill. This $118 billion border package was abandoned by Republicans when Trump ordered them to do so. He wanted to keep the crisis going during his presidential campaign. The resolution should be condemning Republicans for failing to secure the border.
Shortly after, and not to be deterred by Trump’s and MAGA Republicans’ self-serving plan, the Biden administration created an executive order banning most undocumented immigrants from asylum. This policy has cut encounters at the border in the Southwest in half. In the seven weeks since the order was enacted, border encounters are down 55 percent.
It’s obvious to me one party is trying to solve problems while the other party is exploiting them.
