As chairs of the White Plains Democratic City Committee and the Harrison Democratic Committee, we are proud to report that both of our committees voted overwhelmingly to endorse the candidacy of County Executive George Latimer for Congress in the 16th Congressional District.

Our committees are not alone. George has also been endorsed by the Democratic committees of Yonkers, Greenburgh, Scarsdale, Eastchester, Pelham, Rye City, Rye Town and the Town of Mamaroneck.

George has provided outstanding progressive political leadership for Westchester for over 30 years at the local, county and state levels. In an age of politics by television, social media and targeted mail, George has personal, one-to-one relationships with thousands of Westchester residents, including the civic, political and business leaders in every community. He knows the history, the geography and the unique challenges and needs of each of those communities.

Since his election as county executive in 2017 – ending the eight-year tenure of Trump ally and imitator Rob Astorino – George has reduced property taxes, completed long-delayed infrastructure projects and won passage of a blizzard of progressive legislation protecting the rights of workers, women and immigrants and banning gun shows on county-owned property. At the same time, he has fulfilled Westchester’s affordable housing obligations and initiated the conversion of the county’s Bee-Line bus fleet to electric vehicles.

Finally, George’s public leadership style is consistently unifying and respectful of others – no small thing in this Trump-inspired era of debased public dialogue.

George Latimer has earned the support of Democratic voters in the primary on Tuesday, June 25.
