As a retired New York City police officer, I respect the job that Ed Lachterman has done in his eight years on the Town Board and fully endorse him in the upcoming special supervisor’s election on Apr. 16.
During his eight years on the board, he has helped to add many improvements to the safety of our community and our schools. Some of the enhancements include two K-9 officers; the non-lethal takedown BolaWrap; tasers; patrol rifles; advanced license plate readers; an MTA radio communications network; NIXLE; a utility terrain vehicle; a drone; school resource officers in all elementary schools; APEX Virtual Reality Training Simulator; a second traffic safety officer; a plainclothes officer; expansion of the motorcycle unit; a resolution recognizing Capt. Kenneth Sgroi Act of Kindness Day; campus courtyard improvements; a new roof and air conditioning system at the Yorktown Police Department; support in keeping the police fleet updated so that officers can drive safe vehicles; and support of the National Night Out police community evening. He is also trying to bring bodycams to our local police department.
Ed has also contributed personally, donating gift certificates for massages to our first responders during COVID and donating ice cream for the Yorktown Police Cops and Cones event.
Ed has been on the Town Board during major storms, civil unrest and a pandemic. He has been here for multiple safe town and city awards. Ed has been a steady hand during times of uncertainty. He is the candidate we need for Yorktown.
Make your vote count and vote for experience. Vote for Ed Lachterman for supervisor.
