Katz Retains Republican and Conservative Lines in 94th Assembly Race
Assemblyman Steve Katz (Mohegan Lake-R,C) will continue on in this quest for re-election as reports have indicated that he has overwhelmingly won the Republican and Conservative primaries for the 94 Assembly District on Thursday.
With over 90 percent of the districts reporting, Katz has unofficially beat his opponent Dario Gristina 65 percent to 35 percent for the Republican line.
While it appears that Katz has also won the Conservative line, the percentages are not currently available.
The Putnam Board of Elections noted on its website that Katz received 84 percent of the Conservative votes in the county. The other 15 percent was just listed as write-in.
In Westchester, the board of elections has noted that 40 votes were cast in-favor of Katz in the Conservative primary, but it does not indicate the number of write-in votes that were received.
Gristina conceded to Katz over the phone on Thursday night.
Katz, who held his victory party at Smalley’s Inn in Carmel, said that he is humbled by the support he has been shown by the voters.
Katz will face off against Democrat Andrew Falk of Patterson for the assembly seat in November.
