Katonah Art Center to Host Faculty Art Exhibit
The opening reception of the Katonah Art Center’s second annual faculty art exhibit is scheduled for Saturday, January 22 from 2-4 p.m at the Katonah Library. Prominent local artists will present their most recent work. Major pieces are for sale. Admission is free.
Loren Anderson, KAC’s founder and director, said, “Few art centers have as distinguished a faculty as we do. Not only are they great artists, but they are also great teachers.”
KAC director, David Hughes, adds, “The amount of talent gathered in this show is truly inspiring both to professionals and to students.”
Wende Caporale, whom The New York Times called “a leader in the field of children’s portraiture,” will exhibit several of her pieces.
Acclaimed artist Joe Tomasini, whose painting graces the cover of the Exhibit’s invitation, will exhibit his work.
Mixed-media artist Theresa Bates, whose work has been exhibited extensively throughout the northeast, including the Katonah Museum of Art, will be represented as well.
Other notable artists to exhibit their work include portrait artist Laurel Boeck, whose recent commissioned portrait of retired Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert is hanging in the Capitol Building; pastel artist, Jock MacRae, who was recently awarded a New York State Council on the Arts Grant and who was instrumental in the founding of the center; and clay artist, Sue Clayton, whose work is also pictured on the Exhibit’s invitation, and who calls herself “a lifetime student of Jock MacRae.”Both Anderson and Hughes are established artists as well as directors of the center. Their work will also be included in the exhibit.
