JV Mall Names New Manager
Jeremy Strife said that even with many opportunities to shop via the Internet, a shopping mall is still a place where people can meet as a community.
Strife said the Jefferson Valley mall in Yorktown is such a place for shoppers.
Strife, who resides in White Plains, recently became mall manger of the Jefferson Valley Mall. His previous position was mall manager of The Galleria at White Plains and has held several other positions with the Simon Property Group, which owns and manages the Jefferson Valley Mall.
“I’m thrilled to have this great opportunity to manage the Jefferson Valley Mall,” Strife said recently “I look forward to building on the success that the Jefferson Valley mall team has already achieved and continuing to expand our role as a vital member of the Yorktown Heights business community.” As mall manager, Strife said he is responsible for overseeing the “day-to-day operations” of the shopping center.
Strife has worked din various capacities during his career with the Simon Property Group. In addition to mall management, he worked for two years in the legal operations department at Simon Property’s headquarters in Indianapolis.
“There’s a lot of potential” at the Jefferson Valley Mall, Strife said. He touted the recent addition of such businesses as Express, a clothing store, and Ciao Bella, which sells such accessories as shoes, hats and jewelry and added that he would seek additional businesses. “You have to listen to the community, see what they want and cater to them,” he said.
Strife said shopping center representatives meet with local business owners regularly and review the many comments e-mailed to the center. “We do get a great amount of feedback,” he said.
Aside from bringing new businesses to the JV Mall, Strife said the mall has undertaken efforts to provide experiences other than shopping for its customers. For example, in July a carnival was held at the mall and there was a free outdoor movie night, featuring “Jurassic Park,” which was presented on an inflatable screen. The evening also included food vendors, apparatus from the Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association and EMS, and a mobile video game trailer.
Strife said in his new post he would seek to bring additional events to the JV Mall, something the Internet cannot offer.
