John A. Nicolai, 92, a resident of Pleasantville, died on Dec. 11 at Westchester Medical Center surrounded by his family. He was 92.
He was born on Mar. 21,1932, in Pleasantville to Angelo and Antonette (Shiera) and raised by his stepmother, Filomena.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War and then married the love of his life, Vita J. Pavia, on June 29, 1957, in Stamford, Conn.
He worked as a foreman in construction for many years and eventually formed his own company and built many houses in Westchester.
He was a lifelong Mount Pleasant resident as well as a lifelong parishioner of Holy Innocents Church. He enjoyed being a member of the Mount Pleasant Seniors, and he was a past member of the Mount Pleasant Italian American Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Vita, of 67 years; his caring children, Janet and John (Corinne); his cherished grandchildren, Ben, Michael, Kristen, Matt (Jill), Gregory and Kathryn; his adored great-grandchildren, Dominic, Antonio, Francesca and Angelo; his brothers, Hon. Francis Nicolai (Allene) and Richard Nicolai (Lynne); as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his brother, Orlando, and his sisters, Jean and Antionette.
Visting hours were Dec. 16 at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville. A Mass of Christian Burial was scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 17 at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Church in Pleasantville with interment following with military honors at All Souls Cemetery in Pleasantville.
