Janet M. Boyle, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at her Buchanan home on Sept. 4. She was 84.
She was born on Oct. 26, 1939, in Buchanan to Michael and Catherine (Buress) Shubert, who predeceased her.
Janet is survived by her beloved husband, George Boyle, to whom she was married for 62 wonderful years. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter and memories. Janet’s devotion to her family was unwavering, and she leaves behind three devoted children: Nancy Bristol (Charles), George Boyle (Margarita) and Jody Chiappalone (Michael). Her legacy of love continues through her grandchildren, Erica (James), George “Buddy,” Scott, Steven, Gabby (Thomas), Shannon, Danielle (Robert), Michael and Jenna.
She is also survived by her brothers, Randy and Richard Shubert, and was predeceased by her siblings Donald, Michael, Catherine and Geraldine.
A lifelong Buchanan resident, Janet lived a rich and fulfilling life. While raising their family, she and George and their children enjoyed traveling across the United States, towing their trailer. In later years, she and George spent winter months in Sarasota, Fla. for a decade. Janet was a devout member of Trinity Boscobel United Methodist Church, where her faith and kindness touched many lives.
In the early years Janet worked as a teller at NBW Bank. She then took on the role of raising her three children at home. Once they were grown, she then devoted herself to working at the International Preschool of Buchanan for 23 years.
Janet had a deep passion for sports, particularly Cleveland Browns football and Cleveland Indians baseball, and enjoyed knitting, word searches and reading. Her vibrant spirit and warm heart will be remembered by all who knew her.
A visitation for Janet was held on Monday, Sept. at Edward F. Carter Funeral Home in Montrose. A funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 10 at Trinity Boscobel Church, 275 Church St. in Buchanan, at 10 a.m. Burial follows at Hillside Cemetery in Cortlandt.
Janet’s love for her family and her zest for life will be dearly missed but fondly remembered.
