Italian American Club of Mahopac to Host Pajama Party
The Italian American Club of Mahopac is hosting a pajama party tonight, Friday, Nov. 9. The event, which begins at 7 p.m., will benefit the Pajama Program, which provides new pajamas and new books to children in need.
“Danger season is here, the temperatures are dropping and it is cold at night for the children,” said Pajama Program Putnam Chapter President Lucia DeFeo. “Thousands of children who are alone are cold and frightened. They are in need of our help. We can keep them in warm with clean pajamas and with a bedtime book lessen their fears as they close their eyes to sleep.”
Pajama Program serves children, many of whom are waiting hoping to be adopted. “Thousands of the children they serve live in group homes and shelters and are often shuffled between temporary living facilities,” said DeFeo. “Many of them have been abused or abandoned, and have never enjoyed the simple comfort of having a mother or father tuck them in at bedtime and read to them. “
Admission to the party is a pair of children’s pajamas (from infant size to size 18) and/or a new book.
The IAC will be serving refreshments along with homemade cookies and cakes that will be available for purchase. There will also be face painting, a clown and participation from the Penny Lane Dance Studio.
Joining the party will be Genevieve Piturro, the founder of the Pajama Party.
“We are so blessed to be able to give our children the love and comfort they deserve,” said DeFeo.
The Italian American Club of Mahopac is located at 141 Buckshollow Road, Mahopac.
