Healthy Networking Takes ‘Heart’
I attended the Professional Women of Putnam‘s (PWP) “Celebrate Your Heart” Event at Putnam National Golf Club. It was one of the best events I attended this year. The energy in the room was great and celebratory because women want to know how to take care of themselves to live a long and healthy life.
Dr. Patrick Thomas, a cardiologist, described grim statistics on heart disease in women which, by the way, is the #1 killer in women. That fact has only been discovered within the last decade. Can that be true? What is even more disturbing is that only back in 2007 the pundits began disclosing preventive measures to fight heart disease. I’m sorry, did you say we are in the 21st century, as in the new millennium? Yes, you read that right.
In addition, PWP was able to raise $1,000 to donate to the American Heart Association’s Putnam chapter.
Last week, I also attended the Westchester Business Connection’s networking event at Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse.
The WBC is great at marketing exactly why you should attend its events with such nomenclature as: “Make the Year’s Shortest Month Your Most Successful”. Joe, Grace & Jamie are dedicated to creating a venue where business owners can meet and build connections and relationships to grow and sustain a viable business in Westchester.
While in my backyard, John Sardy of the Sleepy Hollow Chamber of Commerce had the same idea. John has been fierce with his marketing efforts so it’s no surprise he was taking advantage of his backyard and the energized room WBC provided.

I almost forgot, January 25 was a big day for me. I was so excited thanks to friend and client Maria Freburg of Webster Bank, I was invited to Webster Bank’s 75th Anniversary held at the ArtsWestchester building in White Plains. I was sooooo excited to meet keynote speaker, Chris Berman. Don’t i look like i’m about to burst! “C’mon Man!”
I think more importantly is how vital Webster Bank has become in Westchester County. What is so inspiring is that this is a family business. Harold Webster Smith started the bank 75 years ago and is now succeeded by his son Jim Smith.
It gives small business owners like Rey Insurance inspiration to build business in this challenging economy.
