Hayworth Visits Hudson River HealthCare in Peekskill
Rep. Nan Hayworth made her first trip to Hudson River HealthCare in Peekskill, touring the facility and answering a few questions from employees and board members Wednesday morning.
“Your model is very impressive,” Hayworth told a crowd of approximately 50 people. “You are integral to the community, and that’s what primary care represents at its best. You care about the people you serve as individuals and you understand their lives in context, and that is a powerful clinical tool.”
Hayworth, a retired ophthalmologist who took office in January, discussed how the organization would be affected by Medicaid block grants, which are being considered by Congress.
Hudson River HealthCare, based out of Peekskill, is a not-for-profit health center that delivers primary, preventative and behavioral health care in nine counties in the region. For more information visit www.hrhcare.org.
