Hayworth Responds to President’s State of the Union
Republican Congresswoman Nan Hayworth, who won election last year in part by highlighting her objection to President Obama’s agenda, quickly released a statement tonight criticizing the State of the Union.
“In last year’s address the president claimed that job creation was his ‘number one focus,’ yet unemployment remains stagnant at over nine percent,” she stated. “Unprecedented spending and high taxes are draining job-creating resources from the economy. Americans aren’t looking for more promises from the federal government, they’re looking for jobs.”
And although Hayworth said, “we all share the laudable goals President Obama spoke of this evening,” she also stated that the president “signed a new health care law, the Affordable Care Act, which has made health care less affordable and jobs harder to find.”
Added the freshman representative, “the new majority in Congress has shown we are serious about cutting spending, reducing taxes, removing burdensome regulations, and empowering small businesses – the real engine that drives our economy – to create jobs and spur growth.”
