Hayworth Ready for Rematch Against Maloney
She might have lost two years ago, but that isn’t stopping Nan Hayworth from making another run at the 18th congressional seat against incumbent Sean Maloney.
Hayworth, a former congresswoman for the 19th district before the voting lines were redrawn, stated in an email to supporters she’s officially kicking off her campaign this Sunday.
“I’ve spent the last 14 months touring our District, speaking to families and individuals who want change,” Hayworth said in the email. “People who want a representative in Congress who will speak for them, work for them, and never forget the principles that make this country great.”
The campaign event will take place at Satin Fine Foods in Orange County.
In 2010 while running for the 19th congressional district, Hayworth, a Republican, won in a primary and then general election for the seat. When she ran again in 2012 for the 18th district, this time against Maloney, a Democrat and former White House staffer, she lost by a slim margin.
The district represents all of Putnam and Orange counties and parts of northern Westchester and southwestern Dutchess counties.
