Hayworth Issues Statement on Budget Deal
Rep. Nan Hayworth (R-NY) called the 11th-hour budget deal made Friday night “an important victory for taxpayers” but said Congress still has to do more to control spending.
“When Congress cuts spending, the American people win,” Hayworth said in a statement released Saturday.
“It’s also important to consider we are limited in our ability to cut spending by the President and the Senate,” she added.
Hayworth also stated that public pressure must continue to be applied to the Senate leadership and to President Obama “to stop spending money the federal government simply doesn’t have and to be responsible for the federal budget in the same way families have to be responsible for their budgets.”
“It’s that simple,” concluded the congresswoman.
