Happy 2014 from White Plains
As White Plains DPW and Rec and Parks Departments put the finishing touches on what continues to be the region’s biggest New Year’s Eve Party, second only to Times Square, Heineken USA remind revelers to take caution while consuming alcohol and to avoid driving while under the influence.
As 2013 becomes 2014, Heineken is again joining forces with The City of White Plains and The White Plains Business Improvement District to help keep residents safe on New Year’s Eve. The groups announced the 10th annual “New Year. Safe Ride.” program, in which Heineken will provide free and safe rides home for Westchester County residents of legal drinking age who are celebrating New Year’s Eve in downtown White Plains.
A dedicated fleet of more than 30 cars will provide complimentary rides home for those 21 and older traveling anywhere in White Plains and throughout Westchester County.
Revelers can take advantage of the ‘New Year. Safe Ride.’ program between 11p.m. on December 31 and 3 a.m. on January 1. The car service station will be located on the corner of East Post Road and Mamaroneck Avenue.
As for the big outdoor party, it’s going to be cold, but clear and some dancing to live music will certainly warm things up.
The New Year’s Eve Spectacular, at Renaissance Plaza, begins Tuesday night, Dec. 31 at 10 p.m., when a DJ will spin sounds geared to all age groups. At 11 p.m. a live nine-piece band Soul Synergy Orchestra will take the stage to take the party forward. White Plains’ large LED light ball will once again drop to a count down and confetti will fall like snow. After the ball drop a four-minute fireworks show will be presented from atop the Galleria garage.
For party-goers who come out late and can’t make it through the crowd to the stage a projection screen in the new pocket park located between The Ritz Carlton, Westchester and Grace Episcopal Church will provide a live video feed as events unfold.
It’s going to be a great time. Hope to see you there and wishing you all a Prosperous, Healthy and Happy 2014!
