FEMA Mobile Disaster Recovery Center Opens in Mt. Kisco
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is operating a mobile disaster recovery center in Mount Kisco today (Friday) through Sunday at 333 N. Bedford Road from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
The center will be staffed by FEMA, the Small Business Administration, the Westchester County Department of Social Services, the Red Cross and some state agencies. Since Sept. 7, FEMA has been operating a disaster recovery center at the Westchester County Center’s Little Theater. The County Center location will continue to operate from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
These centers are for individuals, households and businesses to get help filing for Hurricane Irene disaster aid, in the aftermath of the storm that led to Westchester being declared a federal disaster area.
“This mobile center should be helpful and convenient for residents in northern Westchester who may have been impacted by the storm, but have not had time to come to White Plains,” said County Executive Rob Astorino.
Astorino stressed that people do not have to appear in person to file a hurricane claim, although some people may prefer to do so. People are strongly encouraged to register in advance by calling FEMA’s registration number 1-800-621-3362 or online at www.disasterassistance.gov. For those with speech or hearing disabilities, use the TTY number at 800-462-7585.
