As mentioned in The Northern Westchester Examiner of May 28, there will be a special election held on July 23 to fill the vacancy on the Yorktown Town Board set in motion by the sudden and tragic death of the late supervisor Tom Diana.

The election will pit former supervisor and board member Susan Siegel and Donna Diana, widow of the recent supervisor.

As much as I admire Siegel’s dedication to the town – she attends every regular board meeting, always advocating for transparency and ethical behavior – I will not vote for her. I saw the disruption created on the Michael Grace-led board when she joined it as a member (after losing a primary to Grace and switching parties from Republican to Democrat).

I accept the assurances that Donna Diana was a regular participant in Tom’s positions as supervisor and will support her while looking forward to Siegel’s continued participation at regular board meetings.
